About us

Many People have asked about our unique name for a bait and tackle shop. The history of our location tells our story.

The little strip of land that juts into the Caloosahatchee River at the foot of the Sanibel Causeway has a vast history. In 1521, Ponce de Leon brought the first cattle ever introduced to the U.S. to Punta Rassa. In the early 1800’s settlers moved their herds down through central Florida to the Caloosahatchee River, down the ‘Cracker Trail’  (a cattle trail running from Ft. Pierce to Punta Rassa's cattle docks), to a thriving little town, where Florida cattle were driven to be shipped to Cuba.

Now known chiefly as a popular boat ramp for boaters and the perfect spot for Cattle Dock Bait Company.
